Save the Realm, Mash Those Buttons!

Undoubtedly one of the Wii U’s surprise hits of 2014, Hyrule Warriors seamlessly blended the 1 vs 1,000 action of Dynasty Warriors with the ancient land of Hyrule to create something truly beautiful.

Now, get set to mash those buttons all over again on your 3DS, as an updated version of the game will be coming to Nintendo’s handheld. As is always the case, it isn’t Tecmo Koei’s style to perform a simple port operation, as we see Tetra and The King of Red Lions from The Wind Waker join the roster of warriors, complete with a MASA-fied rock rendition of that game’s iconic theme.

The trailer showcases a new feature for the 3DS version that uses the bottom screen. The stage map is now visible there, and it seems you can switch between several characters by tapping their icons with the stylus, similar to the partner system from Samurai Warriors 4.

As a final tidbit it seems we’ll also be able to transfer the new characters to the Wii U version, though no word if they’ll release them as DLC, too, as of yet.

I reckon we’ll hear more about this one at E3 next week. Keep your eyes pealed.
